Homemade Hot Pockets

I used to love hot pockets in my pre-kid days. Easy hot lunch in a moment… Now I look at the ingredient list and cringe… My goodness there is a lot of “junk” in there! Trying my hand a homemade convenience food has proven very effective.

Since attempting these hot pockets it has not been difficult to create good food that is ready in a flash that I feel good giving my kids and husband. It is insanely easy to make a huge batch and fill a few of each kind for everyone in the family.


Some easy and fun combos around here are: Egg/Cheese, Egg/Bacon/Cheese, Pepperoni/Cheese, Ham/Cheese, Turkey/Spinach/Cheese, Veggie…. The list can go on forever! Get creative and have fun!

Homemade Hot Pockets

Ingredients:

~ Pie Crust

~ Tomato Sauce or Pizza Sauce

~ Toppings

~Cheese

~Ham

~Pepperoni

~Onions

~Mushrooms

~Spinach

~ Egg White

 

Directions: Roll out pie crust and cut in to portions that fit your family.

I use a small kids bowl and press it like a cookie cutter, works great. Sautee your choice of veggies until tender. Some of our favorite combos are Ham and Cheddar, Pepperoni and cheese, for adult lunches Veggie is a big hit! Place a small amount of filling on one side of crust.

Add a small amount of sauce and cheese.

You don’t want to over fill these or you will never get them closed. Moisten the edge of the crust where you plan to seal it with a wet finger, use a fork and press edges together.

Poke a few small holes in the top to allow steam to escape.

Beat egg white until foamy and brush over top of hot pocket.

Bake at 350 for 15 min or until golden brown. Allow to cool.
